The 2014 Grammy Awards had many memorable moments, but above all else, it was filled with great collaborations.  How great was it to see Stevie Wonder with Pharrell, Daft Punk and Nile Rodgers on that beautifully built studio set? One of the best pairings of the night was Lang Lang performing a perfectly honed classical accompaniment to Metallica’s “One.”  Now that’s a tour I would go see even without a press pass. Of course, we always enjoy seeing Pink perform a dazzlingly dizzying feat of strength while still performing a song (yes, we know she was lip syncing that part, but she’s the one person that has an excuse since she was upside down). I was greatly touched by the “in memoriam” section with all the great musicians we’ve lost this past year. Miranda Lambert gave a lovely rendition of “When Will I Be Loved” in remembrance of the great Phil Everly, in a duet with Billy Joe Armstrong (which oddly many people posted she sang with Billy Joel).  Now unlike the rest of the internet, I won’t be addressing Pharrell’s hat, but if you’d like the history behind it, here’s a great article. For one last item, apparently, Beyonce is going surfing on her “surfboard,” so we wish her well in that endeavor (whatever it may mean).  Now much like Trent Reznor’s performance last night, I’ll be cutting this blog off now…
